Surfing in and around Noosa

Catching a wave is a truly memorable and must-do experience in Noosa – home to some of the world’s most beautiful surf breaks.

Noosa is a popular surfing destination, and for good reason. The main beach at Noosa is perfect for beginners, with gentle waves and a sandy bottom. There are a range of surf schools in the area that offer lessons for all skill levels, so whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced surfer looking to refine your skills, you’ll find a lesson that’s right for you. Noosa is also home to a number of surf shops where you can rent equipment if you don’t have your own.

There are 4 klms of amazing point and beach breaks from north Sunshine Beach, around the Noosa National Park headland and then up to the Noosa River Mouth. This area is now designated as the 10th World Surfing Reserve by the international program that identifies outstanding waves and surf zones.

You will also discover the pristine white sandy beaches and iconic point breaks of Tea Tree Bay, Granite Bay and Alexandria Bay.

North Sunshine Beach is a favourite spot for experienced local surfers where it stretches south down the eastern coast.

Noosa Main Beach is famous for its sheltered waters and is protected by the Noosa National Park Headland. It is one of the few north-facing beaches in Australia and at the nearby Noosa Groyne rock wall, for learning to surf is catered for by the local surfing schools every day

From beginners to experts, Noosa will certainly satisfy your surfing requirements.
